The Panthers joined the NFL in 1995 and were instantly competitive. Carolina finished its inaugural season with a 7-9 record to set a new NFL record for wins by an expansion team. The following season, the Panthers claimed a division title and advanced to the conference title game. Then, in 2003, just two seasons removed from a 1-15 record, Carolina won the NFC championship to gain its first Super Bowl berth.

First Winning Season: 1996 (12-4).

First Playoff Appearance: A 26-17 victory over the Dallas Cowboys in an NFC divisional playoff game, 1/5/97.

First All-Pro Selections: Michael Bates, kick returner; Kevin Greene, linebacker; and Sam Mills, linebacker, 1996.

Most Career Rushing Yards: Tshimanga Biakabatuka, 2,530 yards (1996-2001)

Most Career Passing Yards: Steve Beuerlein, 8,960 yards (1996-99).

Most Career Receptions: Muhsin Muhammad, 578 receptions (1996-2004)
