Value- North Carolina State vs. Georgia Tech
Thursday
Night Football on ESPN2 will put Two ACC rivalries
against one another that are both looking to bounce
back after frustrating loses last weekend. The
Wolfpack are coming off a loss to in state rival
North Carolina, 31-24. Georgia Tech is coming
off a 51-7 thrashing to one of the best teams
in the country, Virginia Tech. Reggie Ball the
starting quarterback for Georgia Tech, played
the game with little success after battling viral
meningitis and being hospitalized early in the
week.
The North Carolina followers are asking for
a shake up in the program after starting the
season 1-2 and 0-2 in conference play. Head
coach Chuck Amato is on the hot seat, especially
after losing to the Tar Heels. The Wolf Pack
has started the season with a close loss to
the Hokies of Virginia Tech, 20-16. The fans
of the program and the program itself are hungry
for a win against a division 1-A opponent. Although
the Wolfpack have been tough as a road under
over the last few years, that success has not
come against conference opponents. NC State
is 3-14 against conference foes over the last
three seasons. Most of those were as favorites
as the victory margin for the opponent is only
1.7 points. The Wolfpack is riding an ACC worst
six game straight up losing streak against conference
opponents. Look for the Wolfpack to put out
a maximum effort against the Yellow Jackets
and make this a hard hitting battle.
Georgia Tech finds itself in a familiar situation,
playing on national television on a Thursday
Night. The Yellow Jackets have played thirteen
straight years on Thursday Night in front of
the entire country. GT is 3-1 overall and 1-1
in conference play. Where as GT does not have
its back against the wall like NC State, The
Yellow Jacket have dominated the Wolf pack as
of late wining 10 of the last 13 meetings straight
up and covering 10 of the last 12 meetings by
the point spread. GT did beat North Carolina
easily 27-21.
Both defense are very capable and should be
ready for the opponent's offense. The weather
calls for rain throughout most of the day with
some strong winds into the evenings. With everything
said, I believe that this will be a dog fight
between two teams that are looking to bounce
back from tough defeats the weak before. Make
sure you tune in and watch this emotional conference
match up.
