Against The Spread/Straight up
NFL Trends, Part II
Earlier this week I looked at some
betting trends to keep an eye on for the upcoming
NFL schedule. Here are some more:
NFL ATS Betting on the Eagles:
Philadelphia, under Andy Reid, has been a
warrior on the road. The Eagles are 32-11 straight-up
(SU) and 30-13 against the spread (ATS) in their last
43 road games! Philadelphia is also 19-7-2 ATS in
its last 28 games as an underdog, and 29-13-2 ATS
over its last 44 games as a dog. Don’t mess
with these Eagles as a road dog.
NFL ATS Betting on the Rams:
St. Louis, on the other hand, is a team built for
speed on the artificial home turf of its domed stadium.
The Rams, under Mike Martz, are 8-18 SU and 7-19 ATS
in their last 26 games on the road. This is an example
of a team to look to play ON when it's at home, but
to FADE on the road.
NFL ATS Betting on the 49ers:
Last year was a supreme downer for the once-proud
Niners. But their decline was not new -- at least
if you looked at their play away from home. Since
1999, San Francisco is 15-35 SU and 17-30-3 ATS on
the road.
NFL ATS Betting on the Jaguars:
Jack Del Rio likes tough defense and a clouds-of-dust
offense. Jacksonville was 12-4 'under' the total last
season.
NFL ATS Betting on the Colts:
Is Tony Dungy a big-game coach? I don't think so.
The Colts were 13-2 SU and 10-5 ATS as a favorite
last season, but 0-2 SU and 1-1 ATS as a dog.
NFL ATS Betting on the Patriots:
New England has the toughest home field edge in the
NFL at 31-4 SU and 25-8-2 ATS in its last 35 home
games.
