Last week, half of the teams in the top-10 lost
in what was the most shocking weekend to date
in this college football campaign.
Then No. 3 Oklahoma, No. 4 Florida, No. 5 West
Virginia, No. 7 Texas, and No. 10 Rutgers all
were toppled while dropping the cash as favorites
for the NCAA football betting enthusiast who
supported them. Then No. 13 Clemson, No. 21 Penn
State and No. 22 Alabama also fell.
Among the top-25 clubs, only four covered the
spread sending puppy players barking all the
way to the bank.
Florida's 20-17 loss to Auburn as the 17-point
favorites snapped an 11-game straight up winning
streak and handed the Gators their first home
loss under head coach Urban Meyer and dropped
them to No. 9. They had won 18 in a row, 17 consecutive
since Meyer took over in 2005. Florida is now
4-1 straight up and 2-2 ATS on the year.
The defending national champions will look to
bounce back at No. 1 LSU on Saturday. But if
the Gators perform like they did last Saturday
they could be in for another long day in the
bayou, where LSU has covered in two of their
last three under home cooking.
LSU struggled in the first half against Tulane
as the colossal favorites of 40-points before
pulling away late to a 39-10 non-cover win last
week. The win moved the Tigers to the top-spot
and they improved to 5-0 straight up and 3-2
ATS this season.
The Tiger's success has been generated by a
rock-solid defense that's allowing just 6.4 points
per game and 174.6 total yards as the nation's
best.
LSU and Florida will be an all out SEC war.
Last year, they met in the swamp as the Gators
beat the Tigers 23-10 as the 1-point puppies.
Florida has taken the cash in its last four visits
to the bayou and are 6-2 ATS in their last eight
games overall. The under has prevailed in ten
of the last eleven meetings.
LSU and Florida
will be an all out SEC war. NCAA football odds
display the Tigers as the -8½-point
early favorites.
There's just four teams remaining in the country
who have perfect straight up and ATS (against
the spread) records in the likes of No. 20 Cincinnati,
No. 8 Kentucky, Kansas, No. 17 Missouri and No.
6 South Florida. While those clubs have fattened
the wallets of their investors, Virginia Tech,
Western Kentucky, North Carolina State and Rice
have yet to beat the spread this season.
In the Big Ten, there's three teams undefeated
in conference play. Among those clubs, Purdue
is the biggest money-makers with an ATS record
of 2-1-1. Connecticut leads the way in the Big
East with a 5-0 straight up record but it's South
Florida who's cashing in with a 3-0 mark ATS.
The Big 12 has two undefeated teams, Kansas and
Missouri. Both are 4-0 ATS. ACC action has seen
Boston College go 5-0 straight up and 3-1 ATS.
Arizona State, California and USC are undefeated
in the PAC-10. UCLA has turned the largest profit
among them at 4-1 ATS.
There's seven big games which features two top-25
teams and the action begins on Thursday, so don't
miss it and kickoff your week in winning fashion.
