Week 5 on the college
gridiron offers a slew of great games for NCAA
football betting enthusiasts with an all top-25
matchup kicking off on Friday when the No.
5 West Virginia Mountaineers (-8½)
are hosted by the surprising No. 18 South Florida
Bulls (+8½).
Last year, these Big East rivals met in Morgantown
as South Florida slowed down the Mountaineers'
potent offense in a 24-19 money-making win over
then-No. 7 West Virginia as the 21-point underdogs.
In the win, South Florida quarterback Matt Grothe,
who's certainly not a household name, completed
22-of-30 passes for 279 yards with a touchdown
and two interceptions.
The Mountaineer's offense is led by Heisman
Hopefuls quarterback Pat White and running back
Steve Slaton.
In last year's loss to South Florida, White
went 14-of-22 for 178 yards with two touchdowns
and two picks, while Slaton had his streak of
six straight 100-yard games snapped as he ran
for just 43 yards.
South Florida is 3-0 straight up this season
and 2-0 against the spread. The Bull's most recent
cover victory came last week in an impressive
37-10 home win over North Carolina as the 13.5-point
favorites. The Bulls are 5-1 against the spread
in their last six games after allowing less than
20 points in their previous contest.
West Virginia is 4-0 straight up and 3-1 against
the spread this year. Last week, West Virginia
beat Maryland on Thursday in a 31-14 cover win
as the 15.5-point road favorites. The Mountaineers
are 9-2 against the spread in their last eleven
games after allowing less than 20 points in their
previous matchup.
West Virginia will be looking for revenge on
Friday at South Florida, where the Bulls are
a bankroll building 6-0 against the spread in
their last six home games. Since joining the
Big East for the 2005 season, South Florida is
11-2 straight up at Raymond James Stadium.
NCAA football odds
display West Virginia the -8½-point
early favorites. The Mountaineers are 5-0 against
the spread in their last five games as a road
favorite of 3.5-10 points.
Also, don't miss the matchup between the No.
6 California Golden Bears (+5) and No. 11 Oregon
Ducks (-5).
The Golden Bears have covered the number in
just three of their last ten games and they are
1-5 against the spread in their last six conference
matchups.
This will be a stellar PAC-10 battle and one
you won't want to miss, as the Ducks go for their
fifth consecutive money-making win. This is just
one of the many spectacular games on Saturday's
schedule.
