With Week 2 NFL
odds in place, it’s time
to look at the favorites as well as some home-team
underdogs. Maybe your parents play favorites,
but you can't play favorites all the time and
expect to win in the online sports betting world.
Here's our weekly look at the home dogs who might
come barking in Week 2 of NFL betting action:
Cincinnati Bengals @ Cleveland Browns (+8.5)
It's hard to like Cleveland any week of the
season but they are in a good spot here. Cincinnati
has a short week and looked like a much better
team than they really are on Monday night. They
needed six turnovers to barely squeak by the
Baltimore Ravens at home, who played without
top receiver Mark Clayton and suffered injuries
to Steve McNair, Jonathan Ogden and Ray Lewis.
The Browns are
feeble offensively but should move – and run – the
ball on the Bengals weak defense. If that's
the case, look for them to stay in the game.
They were blown out last week because of turnovers;
if they limit them at home, they'll be in this
game.
Indianapolis Colts @ Tennessee Titans (+8.5)
The Colts have had extra time to prepare for
this game but you can bank on one thing: their
defense won't have the same intensity it came
out with on Thursday night.
The Titans are a strange team that always plays
better than the parts indicate. That's a credit
to head coach Jeff Fisher. The Titans should
be able to run the ball for a second consecutive
week, which should allow them to keep Manning
and Co. on the sidelines.
New Orleans Saints @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+4.5)
Tampa Bay is in a tough spot here. They came
out flying against Seattle in their opener but
couldn't muster more than six points as injuries
mounted. They'll get Jeff Garcia back for this
Week 2 but might be without running back Cadillac
Williams.
Meanwhile, the Saints are stinging after a flat
opening game and will probably be much sharper
in Week Two. Look for their speed to be too much
for the Bucs to handle in a close game.
Dallas Cowboys @ Miami Dolphins (+4.5)
This is a tail of two different stories: the
Dolphins look good in their Week One loss while
the Cowboys looked bad in their Week One win.
Dallas' defense looked atrocious, permitting
the Giants to move the ball up and down the field
at will and now will have to play a 3-4 defense
without anchor Jason Ferguson.
Meanwhile, the Dolphins played well at Washington,
which is traditionally a tough stadium to play
in. In a new offense, with a new quarterback,
they almost squeaked out an impressive Week One
victory. They should be able to get the job done
this week.
Seattle Seahawks @ Arizona Cardinals (+3)
This looks like a tough one to figure out. The
Seahawks look laborious in Week One while the
Cardinals simply looked sloppy. Seattle is still
the class of the division, which makes it difficult
to pick against them, even on the road when they
are only laying three points.
