Aloha Stadium, Honolulu Hawaii
AFC All Stars vs NFC All Stars
Fresh off his 29-17 Super
Bowl XLI victory over the Chicago Bears, Colts'
quarterback Peyton Manning will call signals in
Hawaii in the year's Pro Bowl game. The Super
Bowl MVP received more Pro Bowl votes than any
player in the league.
Manning has more attempts,
completions, passing yards and touchdown passes
in this game than any other player in its 36-year
history. Manning will add to many of his Pro Bowl
records on Saturday as he returns as the AFC starter.
Manning's primary targets
will be Houston star Andre Johnson, Cincinnati
standout Chad Johnson, and the league's top tight
ends in Antonio Gates and Tony Gonzalez. Colts'
Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne were selected
to the roster as reserves and will see playing
time as well.
The AFC's running backs include
Chargers' LaDainian Tomlinson and Chiefs' Larry
Johnson, who finished 1-2 in the league in rushing.
Tomlinson shattered the NFL record books this
year while galloping for 1815 yards with 28 rushing
touchdowns. Johnson racked up 1789 yards on the
ground.
Colts' center Jeff Saturday
will be snapping the ball alongside Tarik Glenn
(IND), Will Shields (KC), Marcus McNeill (SD)
and Alan Faneca (PIT) who make up the offensive
line. A familiar center for Manning to operate
under is a big plus that'll minimize any mishandles.
The AFC's defense is loaded
with talent, led by San Diego linebacker Shawne
Merriman. Adalius Thomas of Buffalo will share
the linebacking duties. Zach Thomas of Miami will
be the inside linebacker. Jason Taylor (MIA) and
Aaron Schobel (BUF) get the call at the defensive
end spots.
The AFC owns a 40-24 record
versus the NFC. During the regular season, no
NFC team went unbeaten against the AFC, and only
Chicago had more than 10 regular-season victories.
Note: The AFC and NFC All-Star
squads are made up of the consensus votes of fans,
players and coaches.
