College Football Betting: Penn State -3 vs. Michigan +3

Okay, so either
Michigan isn’t as bad
as college football bettors think, or Notre Dame
is just as bad as college football bettors think
-- or it’s a combination of both.
In either case,
Michigan getting 3 points at home versus Penn
State is a pretty good indication
that the Wolverines have gotten back into favor
with the BetUS lines-maker. My prediction was
that the line in this game would be Penn State
-10 to -12.5 points.
That is not the
case. The Wolverines are getting tons of respect
in this game and deservedly so as the Penn
State Nittany Lions play an offensive game
that is suited to the defensive schemes that
the Wolverines run. In fact, there is no reason
for the Wolverines not to win this game outright
as Lloyd Carr, believe it or not, has dominated
Joe Pa the last few times the two teams have
met. Penn State hasn’t beaten Michigan
in 11 years. That has to mean something in this
game.
Carr has Joe Pa’s
number and not only does Carr know that, but
Joe Pa does as well. The Big House can still
be a difficult place to play for an opposing
team and the fact that Michigan is undefeated
in Big Ten play, and, therefore, still has
a chance to win the Big Ten Conference and
go to a BCS game, means the fans will be rowdy
in this one.
As big of a disappointment
as they were versus both Oregon and Appalachian
State, Michigan was just as impressive versus
Notre Dame. Granted, Notre Dame is not Penn
State, but Penn State does not run a “spread” offense
like Oregon does.
The Michigan defenders
won’t see five
wide receiver sets and a running quarterback.
They will see Anthony Morelli a traditional drop-back
passer who has been hot but hasn’t faced
a team even close to the caliber of the Wolverines.
More importantly, the Wolverines found out that
they could score if they needed to, romping all
over Notre Dame in last weeks’ game. They
beat Notre Dame by a score of 38 – 0. Expect
the Wolverines to take that momentum into this
game versus the Nittany Lions.
In their last 12 meetings, the Wolverines have
gone 9-3 versus Penn State.
The BetUS against the spread line is Michigan
+3. Take the home team and the 3 points and expect
the Wolverines to really begin their season this
Saturday.
South Carolina is also accustom to fattening
the wallets of their investors recently with
an against the spread record of 9-3 in their
last twelve contests dating back to last year,
which includes a 44-36 bowl win over Houston.
