The Chicago Bears got their
first playoff win since 1995 last week, moving
them one step from the Super Bowl, as they downed
the Seattle Seahawks 27-24. Quarterback Rex Grossman
completed 21-of-38 passes for 282 yards with an
interception and a fumble.
New Orleans and its high-octane
offense out-gunned the Philadelphia Eagles 24-21
to get here. The Saints are the first team in
NFL history to make a Conference Championship
game after losing 13 or more games the previous
season.
The Bears and Saints strap
it up Sunday in Chicago, where the Bears are just
1-4 ATS (against the spread) in their last five
games as a home favorite.
The Bears' defense has given
up in excess of 20 points in five straight games.
Their offense is far from perfect and Grossman
must play much better this weekend against the
Saints in order to be Super Bowl bound.
It may be difficult to invest
in Chicago, who has dropped the cash in four consecutive
games. Also, they are 0-4 ATS in their last four
vs. NFC teams, and they own the same money-dropping
mark as a favorite.
New Orleans has been profitable
on the road, where they are a stout 7-1 ATS in
their last eight road games, and the Saints are
5-1 ATS in their last six games as a road underdog.
Summary:
Last weekend, the dogs barked
mightily as the puppies took the cash in all four
games. Will the conference championship games
provide much of the same? Or will the favorites
take the cash?
Find out Sunday starting
at 3:00pm EST when the Chicago Bears host the
New Orleans Saints in the NFC championship game.
The Saints have taken the cash in five of their
last seven meetings against the Bears. As well,
the puppy has collected the money in four of the
last six matchups in this series.
