Sunday, September 30th --- Bank of America Stadium,
Charlotte --- 4:05pm EST
Opening Football Line: Carolina -2.5 (39.5)
Welcome back to
the league, David Carr. Those of you who put
stock in Carolina to get the start by week
four have been rewarded. With Delhomme sidelined
by injury, we’ll see if the David
Carr we saw in Houston was the real version of
him or not.
Tampa has been playing beyond expectations this
season. The defense has held teams to 12.3 points
while posting 20.3 on average. The balanced attack
of 119.7 rushing yards and 192.3 passing yards
is just what Gruden and the resurgent Jeff Garcia
needed.
Bet on Tampa Bay
to win in a game that will stage Tampa’s rise to the top of a weak
NFC South division. Tampa has been 2-1 ATS thus
far and are underdogs in this game, but not by
much. The line is tight because the oddsmakers
aren’t sure what to make of Carr. But the
smart NFL betting investors know enough about
Tampa’s defense this year to stay faithful
to the Buccaneers for week four.
NFL Free Pick: Tampa Bay 21 Carolina 17
Seattle Seahawks (2-1) vs. San Francisco (2-1)
Sunday, September 30th --- Monster Park, San
Francisco --- 4:05pm EST
Opening Football Line: Seattle -1 (42.5)
San Francisco revved
the hype machine with two upset victories over
the Seahawks last year, making an emphatic
statement that they would challenge Seattle
for the win. But the offense hasn’t shown
much averaging 17.7 points per game. But these
two teams are virtually identical from last
year.
Frank Gore can
get through this defense, while San Francisco’s
defense has the personnel to excel against
the Seahawks. With Harris and Clements in the
secondary, the Seahawks will have to rely on
Alexander to set the pace. But his injured
arm is going to make it tough for him to hold
on to the rock.
While Seattle is the favorite, the 49ers have
enough moxy to get geared up for this game. The
Seahawks are a steady, consistent team, but they
lack the ability to pull away from their opponents
on the scoreboard. Look for Frank Gore to play
motivated as he hits gaps hard while backing
up his words that the NFC West would have a new
king this season.
NFL Free Pick: Seattle 20 San Francisco 27
Pittsburgh Steelers (3-0) vs. Arizona Cardinals
(1-2)
Sunday, September 30th --- University of Phoenix
Stadium, Glendale --- 4:15pm EST
Opening Football Line: Pittsburgh -4 (41)
If Ken Wisenhunt
and Russ Grimm really want to show Pittsburgh
who they should’ve selected
for the head coaching job, this is the game to
do it. Pittsburgh is carrying absolutely no regrets
with Mike Tomlin. They’ve been scorching
opponents for 32.3 points per game, while shutting
teams down.
If anybody knows
what this Steelers team can do, it’s
Wisenhunt so Tomlin will have to put together
a conservative gameplan. With the inside information
that both Grimm and Wisenhunt bring to the
Cardinals defensive side, I think that gives
them a slight edge. The Steelers will also
be without a fully healthy Hines Ward, who
remains their biggest playmaker at receiver.
The Cardinals injury
report says that Anquan Boldin is nursing an
injury as well, meaning that Matt Leinart and/or
Kurt Warner will only have Larry Fitzgerald
going up against a very intimidating Steel
Curtain. As much as Wisenhunt knows about this
team, he doesn’t know
Mike Tomlin and the Steelers are flat out a superior
football team. Arizona has been 2-0-1 against
the spread this season, and look for them to
cover in a close game as Wisenhunt dished out
everything he knows about the Steelers to Adrian
Wilson and his new squad.
NFL Free Pick: Pittsburgh 27 Arizona 24
Denver Broncos (2-1) vs. Indianapolis Colts
(3-0)
Sunday, September 30th --- RCA Dome, Indianapolis
--- 4:15pm EST
Opening Football Line: Indianapolis -9.5 (47)
The Colts are developing
a nasty habit of playing down to the level
of their opponents. They did it last year,
and they’re doing it again
this year. That’s why the spread should
worry their betting faithful.
Though the Broncos are 0-3 ATS, their secondary
is still the best in the league. They give up
259.0 passing yards, but the trio of Bailey-Lynch-Bly
is enough to counteract the terrifying trio of
Manning-Harrison-Wayne. Shanahan will run the
ball with Travis Henry as much as possible to
keep the Colts offense off the field.
The Colts have been 1-2 ATS, and though the
Broncos are not as good as advertised, their
defense matches up incredibly well in week four.
The Colts will get the win, but 9.5 points is
a big gap to cover against a team as well coached
as the Broncos.
NFL Free Pick: Denver 24 Indianapolis 31
Kansas City Chiefs (1-2) vs. San Diego Chargers
(1-2)
Sunday, September 30th --- Qualcomm Stadium,
San Diego --- 4:15pm
Opening Football Line: San Diego -13 (41)
Seems kind of silly,
doesn’t it? Tomlinson
and Larry Johnson are near the bottom of the
rushing stat sheets and both teams are 1-2 in
the win/loss column. That being said, the Chargers
need a breakout game and the Chiefs are a complete
mess. Getting geared up for their AFC West rivals
is just what the doctor ordered to cure the malaise
of the Chargers.
The Chargers woes might be a little concerning,
but worry not my football betting investors.
The Chargers will win this game in a blowout.
Their defense has shown weakness, but the fierce
front seven will blow up against this bottom
feeding offensive line.
Expect LDT to break out for a massive game as
the Chargers roll through the Chiefs and take
the first step in turning around their season.
NFL Free Pick: Kansas City 10 San Diego 31
