NFL Football - The Furious
7 After Week 6

1. New England (6-0 SU, 6-0 ATS)
New England proved
emphatically that the NFC is nowhere close
to the AFC when it drubbed the Cowboys in Dallas
48-27. My favorite part about New England is
how they continue to score touchdowns in garbage
time even though they have double-digit leads.
It’s Bilichek’s way of giving
the NFL the middle finger without taking his
hands out of his pockets. The Pats betting investors
can keep faith in New England ATS, especially
with the hated Dolphins coming to town.
Next game: New England (-14) vs. Miami Dolphins
2. Indianapolis Colts (5-0 SU, 3-2 ATS)
The Colts got to relax for a week after dismantling
the injury depleted Bucs in Week 5, and it could
not have come at a better time. Bob Sanders,
Joseph Addai and Marvin Harrison were all banged
up but now the Colts have no names on the injury
report. That spells big trouble for the rest
of the league. Indy still struggles against the
spread and faces a stiff defense in the Jags.
Their last meeting resulted in a 44-17 loss.
Next game: Indianapolis Colts (-3) vs. Jacksonville
Jaguars
3. Pittsburgh Steelers (4-1 SU, 4-1 ATS)
After playing keep-away with the Seattle Seahawks,
the Steelers got to rest over the bye week as
well. This team is simply taking over games,
while rewarding their betting investors in the
process by going 4-1 ATS. Javon Walker returns
to the lineup when the Steelers face the Broncos,
so it will be a definite test of how good this
defense is. So far, the Mike Tomlin era is off
to an amazing beginning.
Next game: Pittsburgh (-3.5) vs. Denver
4. Dallas Cowboys (5-1 SU, 4-2 ATS)
Despite getting
crushed – and I mean crushed – by
the Patriots on Sunday afternoon, the Cowboys
remain the best team in the NFC. But the Dallas
secondary was exposed severely by Brady, as it
was by Eli Manning in Week 1, and gave up 373
passing yards and five scores. Roy Williams is
brutally slow.
The Cowboys get to shine their boots on the
backsides of the Vikings this weekend, which
has to have some worried considering how good
the Minnesota defense is. The Cowboys were dominated
by the spread two weeks in a row and need a blowout
game to lift their spirits up, and restore faith
in to the betting community.
Next game: Minnesota vs. Dallas (-10)
5. Jacksonville Jaguars (4-1 SU, 3-2 ATS)
Ok. I give in.
The Jags are a good, solid, all-around team.
Jack Del Rio’s prescription of size
is beginning to pay off. David Garrard threw
for 221 yards and two scores as Maurice Jones-Drew
scampered for 125 rushing yards and two more
touchdowns. In the 37-17 win over the Texans,
the Jags also forced three turnovers. They get
to prove just how good they really are when they
take on their division rival Colts this Sunday.
Next game: Indianapolis Colts (-3) vs. Jacksonville
Jaguars
6. Green Bay Packers (5-1 SU, 4-1-1 ATS)
Even at 38, Brett Favre is finding ways to get
the Packers in to the win column. The Redskins
literally gave the game away on Sunday as Santana
Moss had an absolutely horrific outing. The Packers
defense is creating and capitalizing on turnovers,
saving the offense from its inability to score
in buckets. The Pack has a week off to figure
out how to jumpstart its offense before they
face the slumping Broncos in Week 8.
Next game: BYE WEEK
7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-2 SU, 4-2 ATS)
Granted that the
Bucs beat a Titans team that was without Vince
Young, but Gruden’s boys
are still finding ways to pull out wins. After
getting humiliated by the Colts, Jeff Garcia
continued his mistake-free season (no picks)
and steered the Bucs past the Titans unruly defense
to set them up for the game-winning field goal.
With Michael Bennett coming to town to shore
up the running-game, the Bucs remain an underrated
sleeper team. They must keep their eyes on the
potentially surging New Orleans Saints, but for
now the Bucs are firmly in control of their own
destiny.
Next game: Tampa Bay vs. Detroit (-2)
