NFL
Week 3 is in the books and what a fantastic
weekend it was. The action began Sunday as the
NFL betting community watched Brett Favre catch
Dan Marino with the most touchdown passes in
NFL history.
Favre hooked up with Greg Jennings on a slant
pattern for a 57-yard completion as the record-tying
420th touchdown pass of his career. With just
two minutes remaining in the game, the strike
rallied the undefeated Green Bay Packers to a
money-making 31-24 win over the San Diego Chargers.
Green Bay is 3-0 straight up and against the
spread for the first time since 2001. Meanwhile,
San Diego (1-2) has now lost as many regular
season games as it did all of last season and
has dropped to 1-2 against the spread.
Also on Sunday, Kurt Warner replaced a woeful
Matt Leinart as signal caller for the Arizona
Cardinals, who lost 26-23 against the Baltimore
Ravens but remained perfect against the spread
at 3-0. The 36-year-old Warner showed everyone
he still has something left. Warner went 15-for-20
for 258 yards and two touchdowns in just over
two quarters of play.
Other teams who are 3-0 against the spread this
season includes: Dallas Cowboys, New England
Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers, Houston Texans
and Tennessee Titans.
Sunday's action concluded with a great battle
between the Cowboys and Chicago Bears. Cowboys'
quarterback Tony Romo passed for 329 yards in
a 34-10 Dallas cover win as the field goal underdogs.
Dallas is 3-0 straight up and against the spread
for the first time since 1999.
Monday Night Football marked the end of Week
3 featuring the Titans and New Orleans Saints.
The 31-14 money-dropping loss for New Orleans
as the favorites has fans asking: What's wrong
with the Saints? The Saints are now 0-3 straight
up and against the spread and have been outscored
103-38 this season.
History doesn't bode well for the Saints, because
only five teams have ever bounced back to reach
postseason after starting 0-3.
This was a week that the underdogs barked their
way to a profitable 9-5-2 record. Total players
made a mint by playing the overs that went a
stout 12-4.
