Season Wins - NFC

When it comes to NFL
betting and regular season win totals, like
Katherine McPhee's song Over It or Sevendust’s
Under, there's only two ways to go. In the
fifth of our eight division previews, we examine
the NFL odds for regular season wins in the
NFC East:
Dallas Cowboys
Out goes the dictator,
Bill Parcells, and in comes players’ coach
Wade Phillips.
The players already
love him, mostly because he doesn’t wear
them down with mind games.
The Cowboys should be a better team all the
way around. On offense, quarterback Tony Romo
should grow in his first full season as a starter
and the team has improved the offensive line.
The defense should also be a superior unit.
They spent a first-round pick on Anthony Spencer,
an outside linebacker to match up with DeMarcus
Ware, and also plugged a major hole at free safety
with Ken Hamlin.

New York Giants
It looks like a fairly grim situation in New
York.
Tom Coughlin, who has been openly dissed by
his players and should have been fired, returns
for another season.
The team has tuned
him out, which has proved to be detrimental
to Eli Manning’s growth.
Furthermore, Manning is starting to lose the
team’s confidence; he needs a strong season
to prove that he is in fact a franchise quarterback.
Running back Tiki
Barber, the best offensive weapon last year,
is gone and the team’s
best defender, Michael Strahan, is also threatening
retirement.
There is a lack of talent on defense and a lack
of chemistry all the way around. Under looks
good.

Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles are back
to their old formula: a passing-based offense
without top-tier threats at wide receiver to
go along with a young and bend-but-don’t-break
defense.
As long as Donovan McNabb stays healthy, there
is no reason not to expect the Eagles to be a
contender.
It will be interesting
to see whether they stick with their 50-50
run-pass balance, which they switched to at
the end of last season. If that’s
the case, this team could be among the best in
the NFC.

Washington Redskins
The Redskins might be the x-factor in this division;
they also might be garbage.
But sticking with
the former theory, the Redskins did win the
division just two years ago and still have
an All-Star coaching staff. With the emergence
of Ladell Betts, the ‘Skins now have two
capable running backs to take the pressure off
of youngun Jason Campbell.
On defense, the Redskins added Fred Smooth and
Adam Archuleta - two players who should allow
this defense to rekindle its aggressive tendencies.
Defensive coordinator Gregg Williams is a good
one, which leads me to believe that last year
was an aberration.
In the NFC, you never know who might pop-up
as a playoff contender.
