Ohio Bobcats (+6) and the Southern
Miss Golden Eagles (-6)
The Ohio Bobcats (+6) and
the Southern Miss Golden Eagles (-6) meet at Ladd
Peebles Stadium on January 7, in Mobile, for the
GMAC Bowl. Ohio Bobcats went 7-3-1 ATS, while
Southern Miss dropped cash this year at 5-6 ATS.
Golden Eagles running back
Damion Fletcher is one of the few freshmen who
can make a substantial impact, as he has averaged
more than 20 carries per game and rushed for 1,375
yards, despite being slowed by a knee injury.
Tight end Shawn Nelson is a big-play weapon.
QB Jeremy Young (12 TD passes,
five picks) has played the role of game manager
well. He has made sound decisions as a passer
and picked up important yards with his feet when
nothing has been available downfield. Southern
Miss hasn't turned the ball over much as a result.
Defensively, the Golden Eagles
have not done a great job of stopping the run
or applying pressure on opposing quarterbacks.
As usual, coach Jeff Bower's
well-coordinated defense plays together and hustles.
The Golden Eagles swoop up the cash in this one.
