NFL Football - Week By Week NFL Scheduled Games

2007 NFL Season

Each week during the heart of the NFL season, and once or twice during the NFL Preseason, we'll gather the troops around the roundtable and hash out the NFL Power rankings. We check out the stats, looks at the records, and, most importantly, we take a close, close look at the heart of each team. We encourage you to come back each week and see how the NFL Power Rankings have changed. NFL Power Rankings will be updated by Friday every week. Be sure to visit our home page for more articles and NFL analysis. Its with this knowledge that we can then deliver to you The NFL Power Rankings!

As we do every year here at Wageronfootball.com we've really shuffled up the first installment of the NFL power rankings. You'll not like the results if your team was on the losing end in Week 1, but have faith Eagles, Saints and Ravens honk, you're team will be ahead of the Texans once they match them in the win column.

Wager On Football's 2007 NFL Power Rankings
This week's NFL Power rankings were determined by a poll of WageronFootball staff -- writers Q. Smyth, D. Bachman, and M. Pool.
A number of teams moved from the last time we ranked them after the 1st week of the 2007/08 preseason.

Which team will be the surprise of the NFL in 2007? We know there will be at least one. It happens every year, an underrated NFL team that comes from nowhere to make the playoffs or win a division, driving the preseason prognosticators mad.

Rank Team Power Ranking Comments & Notes Coming Soon...
1. Indianapolis Colts Peyton Manning and the defending champion Indianapolis Colts dominated in the season-opener with a 41-10 win over the New Orleans Saints Thursday night at the RCA Dome. Payton looks primed for a title defense.
2. New England Patriots Randy Moss had an impressive Patriots' debut Sunday, as he hauled in nine passes for 183 yards with a touchdown in the New England Patriots 38-14 win over the New York Jets, but, did they cheat? We'll find out more this week.
3. San Diego Chargers LaDainian Tomlinson threw a touchdown pass and also rushed for 25 yards with a touchdown Sunday to lead the San Diego Chargers past the Chicago Bears 14-3. Rivers 22-31 performance scares me just a little for this week.
4. Denver Broncos Jason Elam connected on a 42-yard field goal as time expired Sunday afternoon, to give the Denver Broncos a 15-14 win over the Buffalo Bills. That was an amazing ending to a crazy game. Props to Jason Elam for gettin er done!
5. Cincinnati Bengals The Cincinnati Bengals intercepted the ball in their own end zone to secure a 27-20 win over the Baltimore Ravens in their season-opener at Paul Brown Stadium. 85 and Whoseyourmama looked pretty good against a tough Ravens D.
6. Pittsburgh Steelers Ben Roethlisberger threw for 161 yards with four touchdown passes Sunday to lead the Pittsburgh Steelers past the Cleveland Browns 34-7. If the Steelers keep averaging 365 YPG, they'll win the AFC North hands down.
7. Seattle Seahawks Finally an NFC team. Shaun Alexander rushed for 105 yards with a touchdown Sunday, as the Seattle Seahawks defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 20-6, and look to defend their NFC West title for the 4th year in a row.
8. Dallas Cowboys Tony Romo passed for 345 yards with four touchdowns, while also running in for a score Sunday night to lead the Dallas Cowboys past the New York Giants 45-35, but the D lost Jason Ferguson for the season, and injuries to Newman could hurt the boys even more in Week 2.
9. Carolina Panthers Jake Delhomme completed 18-of-27 passes for 201 yards and three touchdowns Sunday, as the Carolina Panthers defeated the St. Louis Rams 27-13. Surprisingly Delhomme looked confident, and the Panthers could be on track for a bounce back year.
10. Green Bay Packers Mason Crosby kicked a 42-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter Sunday, as the Green Bay Packers edged the Philadelphia Eagles 16-13. The Packers defense is the most underrated unit in the NFL.
11. Tennessee Titans Vince Young completed 11-of-18 passes for 78 yards with an interception, while also running in for a touchdown Sunday, as the Tennessee Titans edged the Jacksonville Jaguars 13-10, and for the first time in a couple years can say they're in a tie for the lead in the AFC south. (Until next week)
12. Washington Redskins Shaun Suisham kicked a 39-yard field goal in overtime Sunday to give the Washington Redskins a 16-13 win over the Miami Dolphins, and Jason Campbell proved that he belongs leading the Skins attack for Coach Gibbs.
13. San Francisco 49ers The San Francisco 49'ers endured some tense moments, but held on for a 20-17 win over the Arizona Cardinals Monday night in their season-opener at Monster Park. All I can say is I fell asleep during this game, but I think the Niners D looked awesome.
14. Minnesota Vikings Adrian Peterson rushed for 103 yards on 19 carries, while also catching a 60-yard touchdown pass Sunday, as the Minnesota Vikings blasted the Atlanta Falcons 24-3. AP HAS to be named starter for Week 2 or I'll go crazy.
15. Detroit Lions Jon Kitna threw for 289 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions Sunday, as the Detroit Lions defeated the Oakland Raiders 36-21. Madman Mike has a ton of weapons, and the Lions may finish second in the NFC north this year. (that's good right?)
16. Houston Texans Andre Johnson caught seven passes for 142 yards and a touchdown Sunday, as the Houston Texans pounded the Kansas City Chiefs 20-3. Add in Schaub having a good first game, and a decent performance by Ahmen Green and the Texans look great at the skill positions.
17. Chicago Bears Rex Grossman completed only 12-of-23 passes for 145 yards and an interception for the Bears, and to boot they lost 2 starters in Mike Brown and Dusty Dvorachek. it's tough to get back to the Superbowl bears fan.
18. Baltimore Ravens Steve McNair was good on 20-of-34 pass attempts for 203 yards with one interception, but turned the ball over way to much. Kyle Boller actually threw a TD to Heap in the 4th qtr but some BS call went against the Ravens in this game. Tough loss for them.
19. Philadelphia Eagles Donovan McNabb completed 15-of-33 passes for 184 yards with a touchdown and an interception for Philadelphia, and the Eagles actually weren't that bad, but they either need to find a punt returner or their Special teams coach needs to be fired.
20. New Orleans Saints Drew Brees was picked off twice, and completed 28-of-41 pass attempts for 192 yards. For the D, Jason David returned a fumble 55 yards for the only TD in a losing effort. Will the real New Orleans Saints please stand up?
21. Jacksonville Jaguars In a losing effort David Garrard completed 17-of-30 passes for 204 yards with a touchdown for Jacksonville and Maurice Jones-Drew was held to 32 yards on seven carries. There's something just NOT right about this team. Broussard could emerge as this years Colston on a positive note.
22. New York Giants How does a team get past the injuries that the Giants picked up in this battle? Manning completed 28-of-41 passes for 312 yards with four td's, before leaving with a shoulder injury, and Plaxico Burress hauled in eight passes for 144 yards with three touchdowns. Keep an eye on Mannings injury status for Week 2. Lorenzen could start.
23. Tampa Bay Bucs Garcia completed 19-of-27 passes for 201 yards with no touchdowns, in a losing effort vs the Seahawks at Qwest Field. I feel so bad for the Bucs. Garcia gets injured, the Cadillac gets put in the garage and they still just don't have the depth to overcome this. Gruden is steamed, but he'll right the ship.
24. Arizona Cardinals Matt Leinhart completed 14-of-28 pass attempts for 102 yards with one TD and two interceptions for the Cardinals. The enigma that is the Cardinals though really did deserve a win vs the 49ers. The D looks improved but if Leinart continues to struggle this could be a long year. Memo to Fitzgerald there was a game on Monday night.
25. Buffalo Bills J.P. Losman threw for 97 yards with an interception on 14-of-21 passing for Buffalo and Marshawn Lynch rushed for 90 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries. This was a heartbreaking loss for the Bills in more ways than one. Say a prayer for TE Kevin Everett, as he recovers in Buffalo.
26. St. Louis Rams Preseason NFC west favorite (Sean Salisbury) came out flat in their season opener, and if they're going to win the NFC west they'd better show up on Sundays. Marc Bulger completed 22-of-42 passes for 167 yards and a touchdown for St. Louis, while Steven Jackson was held to 58 yards on 18 carries.
27. Miami Dolphins The Miami D lost a safety this week but veteran Donovan Darius reports for duty in Week 2. Did Ted Ginn Jr. play in week 1? Trent Green completed 24-of-38 passes for 219 yards with a touchdown for Miami, while Ronnie Brown was held to 32 yards in their Week 1 loss in OT to the Redskins.
28. New York Jets I feel bad for the Jets. They could have won this game if it wasn't for the Patriots cheating on the sidelines....LMAO! Jets QB Chad Pennington completed 16-of-21 passes for 167 yards with two touchdowns, on a bum ankle, and Laveranues Coles had seven catches and a pair of TD's in the loss.
29. Oakland Raiders Guess what? It looks like JaMarcus Rusell is coming to practice today. Josh McCown completed 30-of-40 passes for 313 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions for Oakland, while Ronald Curry caught 10 passes for 133 yds in the loss to the Lions
30. Atlanta Falcons This team is just not going to have anything easy go right for them this year. First its Vick, now its a week 1 loss to the Vikings where it looked like there was only 1 team on the field. Falcons' quarterback Joey Harrington struggled while completing 23-of-32 passes for 199 yards with two interceptions
31. Cleveland Browns Derek Anderson is the new starting QB in Cleveland with the announced trade of Charlie Frye to the Seahawks on Monday. If the Browns were my team I'd throw Brady Quinn to the wolves, but hey, that's just me. Kellen Winslow hauled in four passes for 83 yards and was the lone bright spot on the day for the Browns.
32. Kansas City Chiefs Damon Huard threw two interceptions, while Larry Johnson rushed for only 43 yards on 10 carries. The preseason mess that is the KC Chiefs carried over into Week 1 with a disturbing loss to the Texans. Herm Edwards needs to find some offense -- FAST!
