The New York Jets (1-2), with help from quarterback Chad
Pennington, will look for their second
straight win of the young season Sunday at
divisional rival Buffalo.
Pennington, who missed Week 2's game at Baltimore
after suffering an injury in the team's opener
versus New England, returned to the field last
Sunday and threw for 124 yards and two touchdowns
as the Jets beat Miami 31-28.
"Everybody enjoys playing for him," coach Eric
Mangini said of Pennington. "They
all rally around him, and that's important."
As for the Bills (0-3), it's been a nightmare
start. Not only did they lose Kevin Everett after
he sustained a life-threatening spinal cord injury
in the season opener against Denver, their play
on the field has offered no reprieve for the
players or the fans. The Bills have been outscored
64-10 in their last two games.
"Defensively, we struggle. And part of our struggle
is we have no continuity," coach Dick
Jauron said.
Oddsmakers currently have the Jets listed as
3½-point favorites versus the Bills, who
will start Trend Edwards at
quarterback, while the game's total is sitting
at 37½.
