Kansas City (+6.5) at Indianapolis
This is a Saturday game at
4:30 p.m. EST.
This may be the most uninteresting
of the four games on paper. Part of the reason
is that no one expected the Chiefs (9-7) to make
the playoffs heading into the final week, probably
not even the Chiefs coaching staff. The other
reason is that not a lot of people think that
Kansas City can upset the Colts.
For Indianapolis (12-4),
quarterback Peyton Manning is still trying to
get that giant monkey off his back and get to
a Super Bowl. Perhaps the Colts can do just that
by flying under the radar, but Chiefs running
back Larry Johnson is already licking his chops
at the thought of going against this Indianapolis
run defense. Wildcard
Weekend NFL Point Spread Chiefs +6.5
Dallas (+3) at Seattle
This is the Saturday night
game at 8:00 p.m. EST.
Dallas finished the season
at 9-7 after losing to Detroit last Sunday. Coach
Bill Parcells was quoted as saying he was “disappointed”
with the loss. Disappointed is when you order
a Coke and the waiter brings you a Sprite. Losing
to the lowly Lions at home when a division title
is on the line is devastating, not disappointing.
Seattle is getting a lot
of heat for winning the NFC West division at just
9-7, but they have had to deal with injuries to
their star quarterback (Matt Hasselbeck) and running
back (Shaun Alexander). Still, the Seahawks are
not playing near the level of last year’s
team that made the Super Bowl. Wildcard
Weekend NFL Point Spread Cowboys +3
NY Jets (+8.5) at New England
This is a Sunday game at
1:00 p.m. EST.
NY Jets coach, Eric Mangini
is a legitimate coach of the year candidate after
leading his team to a surprising 10-6 record.
If he can pull off another upset at New England,
he may get coach of the decade. That won’t
be easy though as the Jets are playing a battle
tested team that is shooting for their 4th Super
Bowl win in six years.
The Patriots finished the
season at 12-4, but that was only good enough
for a fourth seed. Maybe they can request a transfer
to the NFC next year.
Even though New England lost
once at home to the Jets this year, they have
to be happy that their opponent is not Denver,
as the Broncos have owned them recently.
Wildcard Weekend NFL Point Spread Jets +8.5
NY Giants (+6.5) at Philadelphia
This is a Sunday game at
4:30 p.m. EST.
This is a battle of
two NFC East rivals that are going in opposite
directions.
The Giants (8-8) have lost
five of their last seven games, although they
did play well in the final week against Washington.
Philadelphia (10-6) won five straight games to
end the season, winning division honors in the
process.
There are so many good
story lines in this game. Namely, the impending
retirement of Tiki Barber for the Giants, and
the revival of Philadelphia quarterback Jeff Garcia
after Donovan McNabb went down. These teams split
the season series with each winning on the road,
and most experts expect another good game on Sunday.
Wildcard Weekend NFL Point Spread Giants +6.5
