Sports Edge details the most
important injuries for NFL Week 16. NFL players
play through some major injuries every week. But
when you get this late in the season, you see
guys going the extra mile, giving their all for
their teams to make the playoffs.
In the Atlanta and Carolina
game, the status of the quarterbacks is taking
center stage. The Panthers’ Jake Delhomme
has missed the last couple of games, and he is
still questionable with his thumb injury. The
team has not looked sharp with Chris Weinke at
the helm.
Atlanta's Michael Vick (groin)
is probable to play after taking himself out of
the Dallas game late last week. Running back,
Jerious Norwood (knee) is also probable. The line
for this game is currently off the board due to
Delhomme's uncertainty.
Baltimore’s Steve McNair
is another big name quarterback nursing an injury.
McNair hurt his hand in last week's game against
Cleveland, but he is not on the injury report
this week against the Steelers. The Ravens are
surprising 3.5 point underdogs on the road.
In Jacksonville this week,
it is the running backs that are of top concern.
For the Jaguars, Fred Taylor (hamstring) is questionable
for the game, and that would leave the bulk of
the running duties to Maurice Jones-Drew.
The Patriots have been playing
without running back Laurence Maroney (back) for
the last couple of weeks. While Corey Dillon has
run pretty well, they need the more explosive
Maroney to beat Jacksonville. Maroney is questionable
in this game in which the Patriots are 2.5 point
road dogs.
In Denver, rookie quarterback
Jay Cutler should have his best target in receiver
Javon Walker. Walker has a separated shoulder
and is listed as probable. If he has a setback
and can not go, it will be a big boost to the
Cincinnati Bengals who come in as three point
road underdogs.
The Giants Michael
Strahan has missed the team’s last six games
with a foot injury, but he was upgraded to questionable
after practicing some this week. New York is three
point home favorites over a solid New Orleans
team.
