capsules on this weekend’s college football
bowl games. There are five more games between
tonight and the end of the weekend. After a day
off for the Christmas holiday, the Bowl games
really start to come at a fast and furious pace.
Troy (+4.5)
Rice
This New Orleans Bowl game
is being played tonight at 8:00 p.m. EST on ESPN2.
The spread in this game has dropped from seven
points to 4.5.
Rice (7-5) is out of Conference
USA. They started out the season at 0-4 including
losses to UCLA, Texas and Florida State. Since
then, they have gone 7-1 including a six game
winning streak.
Troy (7-5) is the Sun Belt
Conference champion and they are looking for their
first Bowl win ever. They also played a very tough
non-conference schedule that included losses to
Florida State, Georgia Tech and Nebraska. The
first two of those games were very competitive
and came down to the 4th quarter.
East Carolina (+4.5)
South Florida
This Papa John’s.com
Bowl game is being played Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
EST on ESPN2. The spread in this game has increased
from four points to 4.5.
East Carolina was 7-5 this
year out of Conference USA, while South Florida
(8-4) was a surprise team out of the Big East.
This is South Florida’s second Bowl appearance
ever, after losing 14-0 to NC State last year
in the Meineke Bowl.
San Jose St (+3.5) New
Mexico
This New Mexico Bowl game
is being played Saturday at 4:30 p.m. EST on ESPN.
The spread in this game has decreased from five
points to 3.5.
New Mexico (6-6) gets home
field advantage in this game, and they hope to
bring some pride to the Mountain West Conference.
WAC Conference, San Jose State (8-4) is looking
for its first Bowl win in 16 years.
Tulsa (+1) Utah
This Armed Forces Bowl game
is being played Saturday at 8:00 p.m. EST on ESPN.
The spread in this game has decreased from three
points to one.
Utah is 7-5 for the second
consecutive season, and they come from a tough
Mountain West Conference that includes TCU and
BYU (both big Bowl winners this year). Tulsa is
8-4 and playing out of the unheralded Conference
USA.
Arizona St (+7) Hawaii
This Hawaii Bowl game is
being played Sunday at 8:00 p.m. EST on ESPN.
The spread in this game has decreased from eight
points to seven.

for this one as the Over / Under is 73 points.
Hawaii is 10-3 playing out of the WAC Conference,
while PAC-10 Arizona State is 7-5.
